My baby girl turns 2~

rylee 2 yr

Well I have been a very bad blogger, very badSad smile Life flies by when you are having fun I guess! But we had a big milestone last month when little Miss Rylee June turned 2!! We are usually up at Star Lake the day of her actual birthday so we have a celebration there and then we had a birthday party for her at Lakefront Park in Prior Lake when we got home with all her little friends! Both celebrations were wonderful and she LOVED every second of it!

But let me just talk about my little peanut and what she has been up to! She loves to talk and is saying new words everyday! She can now speak in about 3-4 word sentences with her favorite being, “I don’t want to!” Ha! She loves music and loves to sing along. Her favorite songs to sing are ‘Jesus Loves Me’ and ‘You are my sunshine.’ Those are the 2 songs she always ask for when I rock her before I lay her in her crib….melt my heart! She knows most shapes and can count to 10 and knows about 15 lettersSmile She is very smart but only when she wants to be. If she doesn’t feel like practicing her “skills” she will purposely say the wrong color or letter with a little grin on her face- she is such a stinker sometimes! She is a good eater but is still on the low end of the % tile. At her 2 year check up she weighed 21.8 lbs. (2% tile) and was 34.5” (68% tile)…hence her nickname “peanut!” She is a good eater and usually eats more then her big brother- she just NEVER stops moving so she probably burns it all off! Ha! Some of her favorite foods are spaghetti, cottage cheese, and cliff z bars! She does have a sweet tooth though (just like her Daddy) and LOVES cake and suckers! Her birthday cake was probably her favorite part of her birthday!

I can’t wait to watch her grow and continue to learn in the months/year to come! Age 2 to age 3 I feel is when they really turn into little people. She is such a free spirit and spit fire and makes life so fun! Although, I am not going to lie, she might make my hair turn gray before it normally would! Ha! But I wouldn’t have it any other way. She is my baby girl and I love her oh SO MUCH!!

Times R’ a changing!

Janurary 2013 (14)

Well since I am on a roll today and did one blog post about Rylee I thought I would really make quota and type one up for my little man, Brady! The title ‘Times R a changing’ is fitting because Brady has finally out grew his obsession with hot dogs and chicken nuggets!! Now his new obsession is meatballs and chicken patties! LOL! One thing remains though….his LOVE for ‘The Little Mermaid’, Ariel and pretty much all mermaids in generalWinking smile I got him a book called ‘The Tiniest Mermaid’ and we are currently waiting our 2nd copy in the mail because we read the first book so much that it was just tattered and falling apart!Sad smile  I am kind of thinking he was a dolphin or some sort of aquatic animal in his prior life because he is so fascinated by all things aquatic and loves to swim! He has always loved sharks and more recently that is his go to book before bed time…the National Geographic Kids edition of Sharks! There is a story in it about the surfer Bethany Hamilton, who got her arm bit off by a tiger shark that has me wondering why they would put that in a kids book….but then it goes on saying that Bethany wasn’t afraid to surf again “as she knows shark attacks are rare.” So Brady now knows what sharks are the “ones that will bite his arm off” and then “nice ones.” lol!!

Anyways…What has my little dude been up too…well we celebrated his 3rd birthday in November (which I should probably do a post about) and we had his party at Jumps N Downs, a big inflatable jumping place. We invited about 10 of his buddies and everyone had a wonderful time! In January, Brady and I started taking a Book and Cook class every Monday where we read a book and then we make the food the book is about. I signed up for the class hoping to help him get over his pickiness about food…and I think it has helped somewhatSmile This past Monday the book was ‘Green Eggs and Ham’ and we made green eggs (scrambled eggs with green food coloring) and ham and he ate it. Even though he does like eggs and ham…I thought the green color would throw him but he ate itSmile! I have recently started him on Fruit Plus vitamins though because I do know he doesn’t eat enough fruits and veggies and those are suppose to help bridge the gap. I can honestly say I don’t remember his last vegetable he has ate…unless you count cornSad smile Having a child that is a picky eater is so draining! I am just so glad at least one of my kids is willing to eat most things…thank you Rylee!!Smile

‘Peanut’ turned 18 months!!

Rylee 18 mths (1)
Whew! Time to dust off this blog and try and post some things…it has been far to long!! My little Rylee June turned 18 months old…a year and a half…where did the time go!?!! I feel like the last year has just flown by! My little girl has grown into more of a toddler then a baby and this makes me sad because I know she will be my “last” baby! As Kris and I are pretty certain we are only having 2 kids! But anyways…our little Miss Rylee is still our little “peanut” and fits her nickname to a T…as she is still so tiny and petite! She weighed in at 20.0 lbs (2% tile) and is 32.8” tall (80% tile) at her 18 month check up. Since she has not gained one single oz in 6 mths we have to bring her back in 2-3 months and get her weighed again. I imagine if she hasn’t gained any weight the Dr. might give her some supplements or something. She eats a lot but she is just always moving so the weight just isn’t staying on! I am figuring she will just have her Dad’s metabolism which she will probably love when she gets olderSmile So we have just been having her drink some all natural whey protein and just offering more snacksSmile Below are just a few things about our little lady!
~ Her favorite food is cottage cheese (that’s my girl!")
~ She loves books and says “book, book, book” and follows you around the house until you read to her. This is kind of a new thing because before she didn’t have the attention span to sit and be read to so it is nice to finally get to do thisSmile
~ No one can make her laugh like her brother! They play a game of chase up and down the hallway and Rylee just sits and does a full out belly laugh when Brady is chasing her. It makes me smile ear to ear!Smile
~ She still makes this God awful sound (uhhh.uhhh.uhhh.uhhh) when she wants your attention or wants something. Kris calls it her Forest Gump sound. Usually I just cave just to make her stop! ha ha!
~ She is officially off bottles! This was a struggle as my baby girl LOVED her bottles before nap and before bedtime! But finally she is able to go to bed without anything and sleeps the whole night through! I think part of it was because she is so tiny so she really need those extra calories from the milk to get her by…so I was OK with it. But when she turned 1.5 yrs old I was like…OK we better stop this or she will be 3 and still on a bottle! LOL!
~ She is getting really smart and knows some of her colors and letters! She knows the colors blue and yellow. And she knows her letters G, S, A, T, and B…maybe a few more.
~ She knows lots of words but I think her favorite saying is “let’s go!” Every time we put our coats on or something she always says “let’s go!” It is so cuteSmile
~Although she looks like a sweet little angel…she is a feisty one! ha ha!! I can tell she will be my more out spoken one. She definitely tries to push the boundaries and when you punish her she looks at you like you are a joke and then just walks away. Where as when Brady was punished at this age (and still to this day) he would immediately put his head down and start crying. Not Rylee…she is not phased by it one bit. Her big thing is she tries to hit you and then she starts to pretend cry like it hurt her hand. It is hard not laugh because the whole scene is pretty funny but I usually grab her hand and say, “No Rylee!! No hitting!!” She also tries to bite…usually her brother, but she did bite the back of my thigh the other day and I about criedSad smile She got put in timeout and a little swat on her butt and that punishment did phase her. She hasn’t done it since.
~ She likes to put things on her head…hats, clothes, towels, etc. She usually goes into our dirty clothes and grabs a pair of my dirty underwear and then comes out with them on her head! Gross!! Then if I take them away it is a full out tantrum so then I usually just give her a pair of clean ones and then she is fineSmile She is a funny kid!~
